Chicago Tours
When an individual thinks of a vacation, he or she often thinks to visit a United States coastal metropolis. What these student travel groups are forgetting to remember is that the Midwest is just as fun, especially when you choose to visit magnificent Chicago. The City of Chicago, in the State of Illinois, is an excellent destination for travel for any person or group seeking an educational tour experience. The city has a diverse, as well as rich, cultural background. Although the Chicago culture is surely something to experience, there are also fun attractions that your tour group will no doubt want to check out as well.
When I was a small child, I had an educational obsession with two very different things: whales and space (I blame Star Trek IV for that), but thankfully Chicago was able to satisfy both of these very different desires. The Astronomy Museum and Alder Planetarium are both certainly something of value for Chicago student travel. This museum, which boasts 35,000 square feet worth of excellent exhibits, also has some fun educational experiences. For instance in one of their great programs, your students are given the opportunity to talk about the necessities of space colonization and then are able to explore the Chicago night sky.
Chicago is a pretty big place, but there is an easy and fun way to see it all at once--1,000 feet above the streets, in the Sears Tower Skydeck and the John Hancock Observatory. These two attractions will give you an elevated view of the city and enable you to view the contemporary architecture of the many surrounding buildings. With the city's many skyscrapers being recently upgraded and redesigned, this is a great way to experience it all from a unique perspective.
Another great destination to look into, which helped to satisfy my childhood cravings for information on whales, is the Shedd Aquarium. The aquarium, home to over 8,000 species of oceanic life, is the largest indoor aquarium in the world--and it's right here in the middle of our country. Shedd Aquarium also hosts many various school field trips so this is a great place for student tours. For those of you who are hungry after either of these amazing activities, be sure to visit the Bubble Net cafeteria for on-the-go cuisine; or for a sit-down experience be sure to check out the Soundings Cafe.
